Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to score a of 10 in the Olympic contest. Bela Karrolyi, a Romanian gymnastics instructor, who later became the coach for Comaneci, first discovered Comaneci at the age of six. At first, she competed in the championships for juniors from Romania in 1969, she was 13th. Then in the year 1970, she was crowned champion. At her first international event in 1972 a pre-Olympic junior competition for communist-bloc nations she won three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974 she was overall junior champion. At her first competitive event at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals aswell with one silver. She was the winner of the American Cup at the New York City Olympics and became the first woman in history to dismount the bars in parallel with the double backward salto. The story of Carol Wayne into the realm of entertainment started in her teens. With her sister Nina Wayne, she joined touring entertainment programs called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 Chicago Illinois US. Carol's career began in entertainment during her teenage year. Her career began by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling spectacle of entertainment. The shows featured ice skating which included stage performances.
